The Canton Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a serious injury motor vehicle crash.

Sandy Township, Ohio The Canton Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is currently investigating a serious injury crash which occurred on Tuesday, December 26, 2017 at 08:28 P.M. The crash occurred on State Route 43 (Waynesburg Drive) near mile post 2 in Sandy Township, Stark County, Ohio.

Steven Michael Weaver, 36, of Henderson, Nevada was operating a 2002 Buick Rendezvous northbound on State Route 43, when the vehicle drove left of the double yellow center line and struck a southbound vehicle head-on.

Timothy McDaniel, 47, of Rock Hill, South Carolina was operating a 2017 Ford Explorer southbound on State Route 43 when the vehicle was struck head-on. Yvonne M. McDaniel, 43, of Rock Hill, South Carolina was a passenger in the vehicle during the crash.

Mrs. McDaniel was trapped in the vehicle after the crash and extricated by mechanical means. She sustained incapacitating injuries during the crash and was transported from the scene to Aultman Hospital by EMT EMS of Carrolton.

Mr. McDaniel was trapped in the vehicle for an extended period of time. He was successfully extricated from the vehicle by emergency personnel by mechanical means. Mr. McDaniel sustained serious life threatening injuries during the crash and was transported from the scene by Med Flight to Akron General Hospital.

Mr. Weaver was trapped in the vehicle after the crash and extricated by mechanical means. He sustained serious incapacitating injuries during the crash and was transported from the scene to Mercy Hospital by Canton Township EMS.

Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash.

This crash remains under investigation.
